Imagine oil rubbed bronze light fixtures only 3 feet away from the polished chrome faucet - not what I'd do.

In a small space, unity of finishes makes it more cohesive, without such a jarring juxtapositions. If the room is large enough, you probably can mix chrome, brushed nickel, stainless steel and it would work. But in a small bath, why would you even want to?
Blog:75d8738f-45fa-475c-b94c-59c57bc16982Post:92b53420-6d57-4509-8cac-5b0c86831835 Can I Remodel the Bathroom Myself? http://www.homeclick.com/community/ask-expert-bathroom-ask-expert.aspx/_can-remodel-bathroom-myself Thu, 13 Sep 2012 19:11:00 GMT
Question: What's the breakdown of cost for a bathroom remodel between materials and labor? I'm looking for the percentage split because I'm thinking of doing it on my own?

Savena: In a typical bathroom remodel, the split is roughly 30% materials and 70% labor. So you are probably thinking - I can save a lot of money. Let's see: How many times you've done a bathroom demolition, installed the new plumbing and light fixtures, Durock on the walls, radiant floor heating, waterproofing where needed, new tiles or stone on the walls and the floor, the shower glass enclosure, the vanity, sink, faucet, countertop, painting, etc? Will you be able to perform all of the above and more with high quality workmanship and pass all inspections?

If yes, than this job is for you. Just remember - a bathroom remodeled by Harry Homeowner always looks like one and will not fetch the highest resale value when the time comes.
Blog:75d8738f-45fa-475c-b94c-59c57bc16982Post:851c540b-d932-4900-b157-e1698a5e56de Master Bath Remodel Investment Return http://www.homeclick.com/community/ask-expert-bathroom-ask-expert.aspx/_master-bath-remodel-investment-return Thu, 06 Sep 2012 17:25:00 GMT
Question: How does a master bathroom remodel increase the value of my home?

Savena: After the kitchen, the master bath is the next most remodeled room in the house. It's such a personal space and it affects our well being more than any other room in the house. That's why I say to my clients: "It's like your spouse - the first room you see in the morning and the last one at night - so you better love it!" This means that when you decide to remodel your master bath, it's best to do it with the right professional help. It also means that not only everyday will start and end the best way possible, but that you've added true value to your home. You also have the best chance to recoup most of your investment at resale. Your master bath will help you sell your home faster, too, as it will be head and shoulders above the rest in the neighborhood.

There are no national averages available for the resale value of a master bath remodel, but a related set of numbers show that if you invest in a master suite addition $108,000 you can expect to recoup over $68,000 or 63%. For Texas, this changes to 71.4%. And what value do you put on all the years you used and enjoyed your professionally designed and remodeled master bath?
Blog:75d8738f-45fa-475c-b94c-59c57bc16982Post:45e32d6f-5e05-466a-b9ad-2deaae1118cd
